ABOUT PAUL

Paul is a Manual Osteopath based in Squamish British Columbia with over 15 years’ experience working in the field of manual therapy, rehabilitation and performance. Over the years Paul has dedicated himself to study under the highest regarded experts in his field from around the world creating a very unique way to helping people in health and performance. He is one of the rare therapist who really understands how to treat the fasciae and its relationships throughout the body, enabling Paul to truly use a Tensegrity approach to healing ensuring the spine, limbs and everything in-between work in harmony allowing the body to heal itself.

Pauls journey to this point began at an early age competing in both the world of BMX and ski racing before becoming a ski coach in Europe. It was here that Paul realized that optimum performance was not solely achieved by practicing skiing techniques; to reach the highest level you had to prepare the body for the sport. It was at this point he shifted his focus, placing more emphasis on fitness training and human biomechanics.

Education

Inspired by his experiences, Paul became a personal trainer and massage therapist before returning to the UK to study, receiving a BSc Hons in Physiotherapy from the University of Nottingham.  He then furthered his studies by becoming a certified Rolfer, attending schools in both Munich, Germany and Boulder, Colorado and later becoming a Manual Osteopath in Toronto, Canada.

During this time Paul experienced a serious ski injury. Looking for answers to fix himself lead him to the work of a French Osteopath Guy Voyer.  Paul has studied under Voyer since 2012, completing both Soma Therapy and Soma-Training programs. Paul is currently studying under Voyer towards his second Osteopathic certification with an expected graduation in 2020.

When Paul is not working he can usually be found chasing his kids on skis in Whistler in the winter or mountain biking and kayaking around the Sea to Sky Corridor in the summer.

First Visit

Your first visit will take approximately 60 minutes. During this time, we will discuss the relevant issues relating to your injury, including your symptoms and what makes you feel better or worse. In order to determine factors contributing to your problem, we’ll ask about previous injuries, other current or past medical conditions as well as your daily activities.  Please bring with you any other relevant information including imaging (such as x-rays or CT scans) as well as any doctor reports you have for review.

We will then do a full assessment, this will include looking at your spine and pelvic bio-mechanics, range of motion of certain joints and testing the strength of corresponding muscles. To perform this more efficiently, it would be greatly appreciated if you could bring with you appropriate clothing such as shorts as well as a sports bra or top that will allow us to assess your spine.

From this comprehensive assessment, we will determine an appropriate treatment plan including a home exercise program.

    “Stucture dictates function.”
