ELDOA

“You are your own best therapist”

— Guy Voyer DO.

WHAT IS ELDOA?

ELDOA (Étirements Longitudinaux avec Decoaptation Osteo Articulaire), or more easily translated to Longitudinal Osteo-Articular Decoaptation of the Spine (LOADS), is a revolutionary technique created by world renowned Osteopath Guy Voyer DO.

ELDOA exercises or “ELDOAs” are a set of specific postures with the goal of increasing space within a chosen joint region. Increasing articulated space within different areas brings a multitude of health benefits including:

  • Relief from pain
  • Improved joint mechanics
  • Performance enhancement
  • Sports recovery
  • Increased blood flow
  • Reduced pressure on discs
  • Spinal rehydration
  • Increased muscle tone
  • Improved posture
  • Overall sense of wellbeing

HOW IS IT EFFECTIVE?

The human spine is a complicated and vital structure. Compression and articular blocks can cause pain, arthritis and even neurological conditions. The ELDOA exercises are a highly effective solution to these ailments.

These distinct and sometimes complicated postures can be tailored to fit each individual client’s needs. An ELDOA exercise has been developed for each articulation in the spine, beginning at the base of the skull and ending at the point where the sacrum meets the pelvis (the sacroiliac joint). In addition, ELDOAs are not limited to the spine and pelvis, there are also specific postures for the hips, shoulders, ribs and skull.

The Rehab Room’s Paul Sherman has consulted with professional sports teams and athletes to incorporate ELODA into their programs to get the edge on their competition and achieve continued success in their sport. Please contact us if you or your team would like to learn more about ELDOA.

“Fascia is the link, it is the link between all structures of the body making the body a global structure.”

 – Guy Voyer DO

ELDOAs also affect the body in other ways. Our bodies are not made of only muscles, joints and ligaments, but also of glands and internal organs. These are connected to the spine through nerves and fascia.

Every function in our body relies on nervous system messages from our spine to our brain, it is crucial for our body’s wellbeing to actively preserve and restore the condition of our spine. Health is not only physical but emotional as well.

Different emotional states can be reflected in our body’s posture, with unhealthy posture exacerbating the problem. By working to correct posture and improve spine health, it becomes easier to manage difficult emotional states.
